Through this exhibit, we hope to share the most noted contributions of Latinos to the
world of sports. Mundo Latino,
a Celebration of Culture, the Latino Exhibit at the State Fair of Texas is proudly presented by Strategic Events. |

| Activities will all take place at 2 p.m. at the Hall of State at Fair Park and include: Saturday, Sept. 26 Mr. Jaime Escalante, renowned Latino math teacher portrayed in the 1988 movie Stand and Deliver Sunday, Sept. 27 Playtime with LEGOS Use LEGOS to protect a light bulb from breaking into tiny pieces. Best for kids from K-12 Saturday, Oct. 3 Live Show: Mean Green Chemo-Demo Team Watch spectacular demonstrations of glowing balloons, colorful explosions and gooey liquids in this popular chemistry show. Great for all ages. Sunday, Oct. 4 Presentation: Show Me the Money! SHPE representatives talk with parents and students about college scholarships targeted to Hispanic students. Saturday, Oct. 10 Short Circuits – Ring, Beep, Whirl Build a doorbell, spinning wheel, car horn, light switch or your own amazing electric current. Best for kids in grades 5-12. Sunday, Oct. 11 Presentation: Society of Hispanic Professional Engineer (SHPE), Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Science Technology Engineering and Math Want to go to SPACE CAMP for free? How about a Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama? Learn about exciting middle school and high school summer camps, space camps, competitions and more! Saturday, Oct. 17 Presentation: Invited Mr. Jose Hernandez, NASA Astronaut Jose Hernandez made history recently being in the first mission with two Latinos going into space. Sunday, Oct. 18 Presentation: University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Dallas, Southern Methodist University and Texas A&M University Visit representatives from North and Central Texas universities – great for all ages. |
